Packing done properly, by the people who will carry it

Full or partial packing of your home or office before the move, using proper materials, by the crew who then load it.

What it is

Packing is the part of a move most people underestimate. A two-bedroom home is typically dozens of boxes, and a kitchen alone can take a full day if every glass is wrapped as it should be. Left to the night before, it is why so many moves start late and end with things broken.

Our packing service puts that work with the people who will then carry and load it. The crew arrives before moving day, usually the day before for a home, with boxes, paper, bubble wrap, tape and wardrobe boxes. They work room by room, labelling each box with its contents and destination room, and leave out what you tell us you need until the morning.

You can have everything packed, or only the parts you would rather not do: the kitchen, the fragile cabinet, books and records, the loft. We will tell you honestly which rooms are worth paying for and which you could do yourself in an evening.

For office moves the same service covers shared areas, storage and meeting rooms, while staff pack their own desks into crates we supply.

What affects the price

No figures until we know the job. These are the things that move a packing service quote up or down, and why.

  • Rooms packedfull or partial

Packing is priced on the rooms and contents involved. A kitchen and a study full of books are the two that take longest; bedrooms and bathrooms are quick.

  • Fragile and valuable itemstime and materials

Glass, ceramics, art and electronics take longer and need more material. Tell us what you have so it is allowed for.

  • Materialsboxes, paper, wrap

Materials are listed in the quote so you can see what is supplied. If you already have boxes, say so and we will adjust.

  • Timingday before or same day

Packing the day before is calmer and usually cheaper than packing and moving on the same day, which needs a bigger crew.

How our pricing works, in full

What we need from you

The information that turns an enquiry into an accurate quote. Have it ready and the quote comes back faster and closer to the final price.

  • Which rooms you want packed and which you will do yourself
  • Anything fragile, valuable or awkward: glass, art, instruments, electronics
  • Whether you already have boxes and materials
  • Items to be left unpacked until the morning of the move
  • Your preferred packing date relative to the move date

How it works

  1. Agree the scope

Full or partial, which rooms, and what needs special care. Priced as its own line in your quote.

  2. Materials arrive with the packers

Boxes, paper, bubble wrap, tape and wardrobe boxes, brought on the day.

  3. Room-by-room packing

Each box labelled with contents and destination room; fragile boxes marked and loaded last.

  4. Load and move

The same crew loads what they packed, so they know what is in every box.

  5. Unpacking if wanted

We can unpack to surfaces and remove the packaging, or leave it to you.

The people who pack it are the people who carry it.

No handover between a packing team and a moving team, and no box whose contents are a mystery to the person lifting it.

Questions people ask

Can I pack some rooms and have you do the rest?

Yes. Partial packing is common. Most people hand over the kitchen and anything fragile and do bedrooms and linen themselves.

Do you supply the boxes?

When we pack, we bring the materials and they are listed in the quote. If you want to pack yourself and just need materials, ask and we will tell you what we can supply.

Will you pack the day before or on the morning?

For a home we recommend the day before. Same-day packing is possible for smaller properties with a larger crew and is priced accordingly.

What happens to the boxes afterwards?

If we unpack, we take the packaging away. If you unpack yourself, we can collect flattened boxes afterwards by arrangement.

Are packed items covered differently from items I pack myself?

The cover that applies is set out in your quote. As a general rule, breakage inside a box packed by the owner is harder to claim for than one packed professionally, which is one reason to have fragile items packed by us.
