Two movers unloading furniture from the back of a removals truck on a residential street

A removals company built on one plain idea

That the price of a move should be worked out from the job, written down, and then left alone. Everything else about how we work follows from that.

The idea

The name is not a slogan. UK Fair Price Removals was set up because too many people's experience of moving house or shipping goods ends with a number that bears little resemblance to the one they were given, and with nobody able to explain the difference. We wanted to run a removals and freight company where that could not happen.

The method is unglamorous. Ask enough questions to understand the job. Work out what it will actually take: which vehicle, how many people, how long, how far. Write it down with every extra and every allowance on its own line. Then do the job as described. If the job turns out to be different from the description, show the difference rather than bury it.

We serve both households and businesses from the same base in Ilford, with the same vehicles and the same approach. A family moving from a flat in Gants Hill to a house in Chelmsford and a wholesaler sending pallets to Leeds are different jobs with the same requirement: know what you are paying for before you agree to pay it.

How we work

Five habits that make the fair price possible.

  1. We ask before we quote

Access, volume, timing and extras, every time. The detailed brief on the quote page exists so nothing is left to be discovered on the day.

  2. We size the vehicle from the load

The estimator and the fleet page are public because we want you to be able to check our thinking.

  3. We write everything down

The vehicle, the crew, the allowances, the extras, the rates for anything beyond them.

  4. We say no when we should

If we cannot do the job in the time or for the price it needs, we tell you straight away so you can plan.

  5. We treat freight and removals the same way

Different loads, same discipline: understand it, quote it in writing, deliver it as described.

  6. We stay reachable

One reference number per job, and a person who knows it when you get in touch.

Where we are

Our registered office is on Uphall Road in Ilford, in the London Borough of Redbridge. Ilford is on the A12 with the A406 and M11 minutes away, which is why local work across East London and long-distance work along the motorway network can run from one base.

Enquiries are handled through the quote and contact pages, and by phone when a number is shown. Every enquiry gets a reference so you can follow it up easily.

We would rather lose a job on price than win it on a number that was never real.

That is the only way a company with fair price in its name can operate.
